“The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.”

Ole Man Winter... You're Getting Old!

We're in the midst of another cold snap.
Icy winds blow, and although the sun is shining, nothing melts.

It's that time of year when I fear we may still have snow on the ground in June.

It won't happen... never has... but still there's a tiny fear deep in the pit of my soul...
made deeper by the lack of warmth and color in our world.

I choose to see winter as beautiful.
I choose to enjoy the cold weather
(of course, warm clothing and a warm house make that possible...
and are nothing that I take for granted!")

I choose to enjoy whatever Mother Nature throws at us... within reason, of course.
But... I am human (as are we all),  and we have our limits... right?

So I am sending a petition to Mother Nature.
We need some warmth.
We need the snow to melt.
We need the snowdrops to bloom.

I am sure I can get the hoofprint or footprint of almost every animal on the farm
for this petition.

Except...

These two are so happy in the cold.
They are toasty warm in their bulky, hooded sweaters.

They spend their days near their hay feeder...

and come to the fence for treats...

and sleep out under the stars
(they prefer their houses when it precipitates.)

Winter life is good for Faith and Hope.
They were built for this.
